Devo for 08/11/2025 - Message by Pastor Clint Sprague
As Pastor Clint continued our “Hike Through the Sermon on the Mount”, he brought a great word from Matthew Chapter 6. He pointed out that Jesus included actions we are to take in our walk with God. These actions were preceded by the words, “When you…”
When you Give
When you Pray
When you Fast
The message drove home these points, and Pastor Clint offered practical ways to carry out these actions. I encourage everyone to go back and listen to this message and let God show you how to apply it to your life.
As a lot of you men know, we had our fall Real Men last Monday that culminated in the launch of BrotherHood Groups. Pastor Clint brought a powerful message on Choices. His 5 steps to making the best choices was spot on!
Ask God for Wisdom
Do a Heart Check
What does the Word of God say
Follow where Peace leads you
Seek Wise Council.
One verse from his message stood out to me, and I wanted to expand on that one.
Let us think of ways to motivate one another to acts of love and good works. And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another, especially now that the day of his return is drawing near. Hebrews 10:24-25
The theme for Real Men was how gathering together with Christian brothers is necessary and essential for our walk with the Lord, so we can agree that this verse highlights that and verifies that God encourages us to gather together. (So go to our men’s website and sign up for a BrotherHood Group!) But I want to highlight two parts of this scripture:
Let us think of ways to motivate one another
Encourage one another
Imagine if you will that each day when we woke up, and after giving glory to God, we thought about ways to motivate and encourage those people who were in our lives. Maybe even going so far as thinking about how we could motivate and encourage those with whom we may have struggles or issues with.
I know, that is crazy talk!! Or is it? Paul would say it is attainable and should be a goal!
Do nothing out of rivalry or conceit, but in humility consider others as more important than yourselves. Philippians 2:3
Men, the challenge is to have a heart where thinking of what we can do for others is more important than what we want. So, are you up for the challenge?
Don’t forget to invite God into your day!
