Devo for 05/04/2025 service- Message by Pastor Clint Sprague

Pastor Clint brought week 3 of the series “The Veil Torn,” and it was an inspirational and thought-provoking message!  The fact that Jesus endured separation from the Father so we do not ever have to should be enough to enspire us all in pursuing the Heart of God and His presence every day!  For even more inspiration, check out this passage of Hebrews:

Therefore, brethren, since we have confidence to enter the holy place by the blood of Jesus, by a new and living way which He inaugurated for us through the veil, that is, His flesh, and since we have a great priest over the house of God, let us draw near with a sincere heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water.” Hebrews 10:19-22

This idea of chasing after the heart of God is explained very simply in the book of James.

Draw near to God and He will draw near to you…” James 4:8a

Have you been taking advantage of the access we have to the Father?  Or do you just go to Him when things are tough?   I think as men, we tend to fall into the second category.  We get busy, or maybe we find ourselves so consumed with our surroundings and lifestyle, we forget to make time to just BE with God.

If I can offer two things that have really helped me stay out of the “busyness” pattern, it is this:

1) Learn to look at God as a Father.  Upon salvation, we are adopted into His family.  And with this adoption comes an opportunity to have an intimate relationship with Him.  This relationship is so much more than Him just being available to help you through struggles.  In the book of Mark, it says that Jesus “went to a solitary place, and prayed.”  In fact, you read in the bible that Jesus got away with his Father as often as He could.  This is key, though; I don’t believe that Jesus only went to God with a list of things to complain about, get fixed, or get direction.  Can you imagine a Child only went to their father when things were bad?  I believe sometimes Jesus probably went away to just BE with God.    I assure you, as you live in AWE of God (who is your PERFECT Father), if you can get in the habit of just BEING in His presence always, you will understand what the peace of God is!

2) You might notice I end each of these devo’s with this statement, “Don’t forget to invite God into your day!”  The point is, invite God into everything that happens during your day.  Starting a new project at work or home?  Before you start, ask God to help you with it.  Driving to work?  Ask Abba, Father to ride along.  Going for a walk?  Invite Him!  Of course, run to Him and cast your problems at the foot of the cross, but also realize He wants to be in all aspects of our lives! So invite Him in, you will be amazed at the reward!!

So, as I always say:

Don’t forget to invite God into your day!
