Devo for 06/15/2025 service- Message by Pastor Jeff Collene

Pastor Jeff Collene continued the series “The Way That Leads to Life” this past weekend.  This series has focused on these key verses:

“Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it.  Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it.”  Matthew 7:13-14

He pointed out that God established authority in the church (us) and wants us to be productive with what He has given us.  Pastor Jeff put it this way:

  • God has given everyone gifts

  • We are responsible for stewarding God’s gifts

  • When we go to heaven, our accounts will be settled

These three points got me thinking about our purpose as sons of God.  God calls us to use our gifts to serve Him and others.  He wants us to be productive.   He also calls us to operate out of what He has given us:

“Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.  If anyone speaks, they should do so as one who speaks the very words of God. If anyone serves, they should do so with the strength God provides, so that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ. To him be the glory and the power for ever and ever. Amen.” 1 Peter 4:10-11

As we steward God’s gifts, we extend the grace He gave us to others!  This is also important to remember about the gifts He gives us; stewarding them well means it is all about Him; it is never about us.

My last point is this.  When talking about gifts, we are not only talking about the “spiritual gifts.”  God created each of us uniquely, meaning we all have different abilities, talents, and passions.  We can use everything about us, and everything given to us, to glorify God as we walk out the purpose He has for each of us.

So, I encourage you to spend time with God and let Him answer this question:

How am I doing stewarding the things You gave me?

Then allow Him to establish your steps as you walk in the purpose God has for you!  ( The heart of man plans his way, but the Lord establishes his steps. Proverbs 16:9)

Don’t forget to invite God into your day!
