Devo for 11/23/2025 Service - Message by Pastor Clint

Pastor Clint brought us week two of the series “With Thankful Hearts” this past Sunday.  He read from Colossians again, highlighting a powerful verse that encourages us to be thankful.

And let the peace that comes from Christ rule in your hearts. For as members of one body you are called to live in peace. And always be thankful. Let the message about Christ, in all its richness, fill your lives. Teach and counsel each other with all the wisdom he gives. Sing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs to God with thankful hearts. And whatever you do or say, do it as a representative of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks through him to God the Father. Colossians 3:15–17

The four points of the message were so impactful that I believe this week's devotional needs to focus on each of them. Each point highlights an area where we should reflect on ourselves and assess our progress. After each point, I’ve included a question for us to take to God, allowing us to evaluate how we are doing in that area.

A Thankful Heart is at Peace.

Pastor Clint gave us his definition of Biblical peace:

An inner freedom from God which produces strength and confidence regardless of what is happening around us.

Ask God: Do I always live and respond in strength and confidence in all situations I encounter?

A Thankful Heart is Content

Pastor Clint challenged us to think about how a lack of gratitude causes frustration, rebellion, sin, and pain.

Ask God: Am I thankful for what I have or am I driven by what I want?

A Thankful Heart is Generous

This quote says it all!  “Generosity is an overflow of Peace and Contentment.”

Ask God: Would those people who know me consider me generous?

A Thankful Heart Trusts God

Philippians 4:19-20 says, “And this same God who takes care of me will supply all your needs from His glorious riches, which have been given to us in Christ Jesus.”

Ask God: Do I trust that you will take care of all of my needs?

I encourage you to spend time with the Lord and ask Him those questions.  And trust that He will answer you and walk with you to grow as a Son of God!

As we are in the Thanksgiving season, I will close with the challenge Pastor Clint laid out for us:

Take 15 minutes and make a list of all that you have to be thankful for.

Then, thank God and find someone to share your list with!

Don’t forget to invite God into your day!
