Devo for 4/12/2026 - Message by Pastor Clint
Pastor Clint brought week three of the series “Jesus Changes Everything”. He reminded us that Jesus gives us an opportunity for a new way to live:
Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light.” Matthew 11:28-30
Jesus is the way to bring change into our lives, and we do that by bringing all of our “stuff” and laying it at the foot of the cross. This is how we can walk in the freedom God created us to walk in.
The point to remember is this: We have to believe this is true, and we have to receive it for ourselves. In other words, this is our choice. It is up to us whether we make the effort to walk in freedom.
Last week’s devos talked about words spoken over us and how they can be damaging or uplifting. The same goes for words we speak over ourselves. Many times, we speak words over ourselves that keep us from walking in freedom. “I can’t receive forgiveness for what I have done.” “I can’t understand the bible when I read it.” “I can’t do that, I am not worthy.”
Words like this are devastating, and they are a choice! Instead of living your lives with an “I can’t” attitude, make the decision to declare that you can! Do what the father of a young man stricken by a spirit did in Mark 9. He came to Jesus and told him the disciples could not cast out the demon. After hearing the story, Jesus said, “If you can believe, all things are possible to him who believes.” (Mark 9:23) The man immediately cried out, “Lord, I believe, help my unbelief.” The man understood he still had trouble believing, but trusted Jesus’ word and was willing to humbly ask Jesus to help him believe!
If you struggle receiving from God, declare otherwise and ask the Lord to help you receive it! Ask Him to help you with anything you struggle to believe and receive. When he shows you the areas you are struggling, declare the truth, and ask Him to help you! He is faithful to help!
Start living your life with the strength and authority that God has given you. Use it to overcome these areas of unbelief in your life! And, invite God into this journey with you!
Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might. Ephesians 6:10
Behold, I have given you authority to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall hurt you. Luke 10:19
Don’t forget to invite God into your day!
