Devo for 5/10/2026 - Message by Pastor Clint
Pastor Clint continued the series “Sharing Jesus” this past weekend, pointing out that if we are going to share Jesus, we have to share as Jesus did. He talked about how Jesus was moved with compassion for the multitudes that came to him. Although they were far from food or provisions, Jesus blessed the few fish and pieces of bread the disciples had and fed the masses with them.
This is a model of how we should share Jesus ourselves. We first see the need, then we ask Jesus to bless what we have for those in need, and then we share it!
Several times in the Bible, it says that Jesus was moved with compassion as he saw people. One of the times Jesus showed how compassionate He is was from His interaction with a leper. In the days Jesus walked the earth, people did not normally have compassion for lepers. If they did, it was from afar as they felt their whole appearance was repulsive. And they certainly would not touch someone with leprosy. But Jesus is not like the rest!
Now a leper came to Him, imploring Him, kneeling down to Him and saying to Him, “If You are willing, You can make me clean.” Then Jesus, moved with compassion, stretched out His hand and touched him, and said to him, “I am willing; be cleansed.” Mark 1:40-41
Jesus could have easily spoken a word and healed the man, but He chose to use touch. I believe this act, although against Jewish law at the time, was meant to show us that compassion has nothing to do with societal norms, opinions, or emotions. Compassion is our calling to respond to human suffering with empathy, mercy, and sympathy. But the most important thing to know about compassion is this: Compassion is an Action Word!
When we feel moved by compassion, we should act on that! Just like Jesus did!
So, what is it that moves you with compassion? Ask God, and when He brings it up, be compassionate!!
Don’t forget to invite God into your day!
