Devo for 10/05/2025 Service - Message by Pastor Clint Sprague
Pastor Clint began a new series this week titled “Our Purpose.” He pointed out that Purpose holds a place in our Vision Statement at LifeMission Church:
“To see Lives and Communities Transformed by Revealing God’s Presence and Purpose”
He spoke about how most people go through life with no idea of what their purpose is. And then he made this point: “If we don’t know our purpose, all we are left with is pursuing pleasure.” How many of us wonder what our purpose is while we are spending all of our time pursuing things that make us feel good?
We saw that the definition of purpose is “The reason for which something is done or created.” We were all created by God for HIS purpose. Each of us also has a purpose, and that purpose will always further God’s purpose.
The first step is for us to have a relationship with God. Jesus came to the earth in the form of a human to die on the cross so that we can walk in an intimate relationship with Him. Once we have made the decision to give our lives to God, we become ambassadors of His Kingdom.
Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were making an appeal through us; we beg you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God.
2 Corinthians 5:20
An ambassador is defined as one who represents a sending authority. In this case, we are “sent” by God to represent the Kingdom of God everywhere we go and in everything we do. So, although we live in the United States, upon salvation and adoption as a son, we are now citizens of the Kingdom of God and are here to represent Him.
As you can see in the verse above, our purpose as ambassadors is to encourage people to be reconciled to God. This term reconciled can be defined as “returning to favor”. So in everyone’s purpose, there is a charge to encourage and walk with those who are “out of favor” with God so that they can be reconciled. (We are also to be reconciled to God for areas in which we are out of favor with God!)
The challenge for each of us is this: would those we encounter recognize us as ambassadors of God’s Kingdom? Would our words and actions glorify God? Or would they see men who are only pursuing pleasure?
Don’t forget to invite God into your day!
