Devo for 10/12/2025 Service - Message by Pastor Clint and Pastor Mary
Pastors Clint and Mary teamed up to continue the sermon series “Our Purpose” this past Sunday. LifeMission Church has set purposes that we believe are on-ramps into our ultimate purpose, which is living our lives in the presence of God. These purposes are:
Salvation Family Freedom Growth Mission
The message this week was on Family and highlighted that God chose to adopt us into His family! He didn’t have to, but He wanted to! Pastor Clint made the statement that God was family-oriented, and he wants us to see him as an ABBA Father. (This term, Abba is used to show an intimate, close, familial relationship.)
But do we see ourselves as His kids? Can we look in the mirror and, with certainty, receive that we are adopted sons of God?
This question brought me to this verse:
But now, O LORD, You are our Father, We are the clay, and You our potter; And all of us are the work of Your hand. Isaiah 64:8
What stood out to me was the reference to us being the work of God’s hand: how we are created is because God made us the way HE wanted us to be. As new creations, God loves what He created. And God does not create junk!
As sons of God, we have to believe what God says about us. We will never be able to walk in our purpose if we do not believe what our Father says about us. And what does He say? Well, here are just a few things from His Word:
You are His handiwork - Ephesians 2:10
You are precious and honored - Isaiah 43:4
You are chosen - 1 Peter 2:9, Colossians 3:12
You are a child of God - 1 John 3:1
You are a light - Matthew 5:14
You are God’s Temple - 1 Corinthians 3:16
Of course, the devil wants to lie to us about how God sees us. He is good at messing with us, but no matter what the devil says and does, he has already been defeated. So I would encourage each of you to take some time and get out of your normal routine, go to a secret place, and ask God this question:
God, what do you think about me?
If you hear anything that does not line up with God’s Word, it is a lie from satan or you are believing lies of the world. Rebuke those and bask in the comfort of knowing our Creator believes in you and eagerly adopted you as a son in His family!
Don’t forget to invite God into your day!
