Devo for 3/22/2026 - Message by Pastor Andrew

This week, Pastor Andrew wrapped up the sermon series “Hearing God.” He talked to us about how God can speak to us through our inner witness and the circumstances of our lives.

Throughout this series, we have learned that God wants to have a relationship with us, He is always with us and speaking to us, but we have to practice hearing from Him!  Pastor Jeff Little gave us this short quote that should be our goal:

The better we know God

The better we hear God

There is one more thing about hearing God: it brings a reward!

But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.     Matthew 6:6

In this verse, the room represents a private place free from distractions. Closing the door represents shutting out the noise of the world.  Although it does not say what the reward is, you know it will be amazing because it comes from the Father!

Jesus understood the importance of going to a private place as He would often go away from the crowd and busyness of life to pray.

“One of those days Jesus went out to a mountainside to pray, and spent the night praying to God.” Luke 6:12

His “private place” was the mountain. This was a place he could go to get out of his normal world and spend quiet time in solitude with His Father.

Where is your private place to pray?  Do you make it a point to get out of your normal, away from distractions, when you spend time with God?  If not, you are missing out on His rewards!  Give it a try!

Don’t forget to invite God into your day!
